Visual Sensation
➦ Visual sensation is the most important sensation for human beings as it supplies them with the greatest amount of information about the external world.
➦ The physical stimulus for visual sensation is light. Eye is the receptor of visual sensation. Visual sensation is the experience of light in the eye.
➦ Through eyes it is possible to see light, color, size, shape, movement, distance, etc.
➦ At its core, visual sensation begins with the reception of light by the eyes, which act as sensory receptors capturing photons and converting them into electrochemical signals.
➦ This initial stage occurs within the retina, a layer of light-sensitive cells lining the back of the eye, where specialized photoreceptors known as rods and cones play pivotal roles in detecting different aspects of visual information.
➦ Rods are primarily responsible for low-light vision and motion detection, whereas cones facilitate color perception and detail resolution, particularly in well-lit conditions.
