Difference between CV and Resume 

 

Curriculum Vitae include information on one’s academic background, including teaching experience, degrees, research, awards, publications, presentations, and other achievements. CVs are thus much longer than resumes, and include more information, particularly related to academic background. Resumes are the most common document requested of applicants in job applications.A resume is a written compilation of your education, work experience, credentials, and accomplishments.Resume can be used for a variety of reasons, but most often they are used to secure new employment.

Some of the basic difference between CV and Resume are as follow:

Purpose The main purpose of writing CVs is applying for  international, academic, education, scientific, medical or research positions or when applying for fellowships or grants. The main purpose of writing a Resume is for applying for wide variety of employment positions which includes a resume objective and career summary statement. 
Contents CVs presents overview of your full academic history,including teaching publications,research,awards and service. Resume demonstrates description or sums up of your relevant skills and experiences to show your suitability for a specific position.
Focus CVs generally focuses on your academic achievements and scholarly studies. Resume generally focuses on your experiences from previous job as well as the skill you have gained.
Structure CVs must be text-rich followed by narrative style. Resume must have minimum text supported by achievement oriented bullets.
Order Curriculum vitae(CVs)  can be written in Chronological order. Resume should be written in reverse chronological order.
