Telecommunication Network
Telecommunications refers to the exchange of information by electronic and electric means over a significant distance which is modulated into analog and digital signals for transmitting the information. Likewise, Telecommunication Network is an arrangement of computing and telecommunications resources for communication of information between distant locations. Information and networking technologies are transforming the dynamics of business, economics, education, government, and even international relations.
Traditional business strategies are losing out to new unconventional tactics. Relationships among customers, suppliers, employees, and competitors are changing. New businesses are popping up on the net. Businesses have become networked enterprises. For businesses, timely and reliable communication within the organization and with customers is a critical part of success. Telecommunication services, provided by a carrier or telecom provider, make this possible.
Advantages of Telecommunication Network
a) Overcomes Cost barriers
Telecommunication technologies help reduce the cost of doing business. Paperless offices in which email messages are the primary mode of communication cut the cost of purchasing paper, printing, disposing and recycling. Sending letters to so many is more expensive than sending one email with the same information to several customers. Email and VoIP technologies also can play a key role in ensuring that telephone calls are made less often, thus lowering the cost of business communication.
b) Improved Communication
Telecom services provide the network for information to be exchanged electronically, through wired or wireless methods. This information is shared from room to room or across the country. Examples include telephone, Internet-connected computers, fax machines, and handheld communication devices. Smartphones and tablets have increased capabilities through mobile communication. Employees can use these devices to access information and applications, work on documents, send and receive emails, and join conversations via teleconference.
c) Time Compression
Telecommunication tools allow a firm to transmit raw data and information quickly and accurately between remote sites. Compared to older modes of communication such as handwritten letters, information is exchanged more effectively within a shorter period of time. For example, with a telephone call, a customer is able to put across his complaints and the business is able to attend to these complaints instantly, thereby fulfilling the customer’s needs. In contrast, a written complaint would take a longer time to both reach the company and for the complaint to be addressed.
d) Restructuring Business Relationships
The telecommunication network enables a system that restructures the interaction of people within a firm as well as the firm’s relationships with its customers. Operational efficiency may be raised by eliminating intermediaries from various business processes.
e) Overcomes Geographical Barriers
Telecommunication Network enables geographically remote sites to function. According to Global Workplace Analytics, 3.3 million people work for an organization from home, and this number has grown drastically in the last ten years. If you have remote employees in your organization, or your employees are required to travel frequently for training and client meetings, the appropriate telecom services can help them stay connected.
f) Collaboration
Telecommunication helps employees in different departments or separate locations work together more effectively. Employees can use networked telecommunication systems to send and receive emails, share documents, and collaborate via video conference or teleconference. This can speed up decision-making and reduce the time to complete projects, such as new product development programs.
